Senior Spotlight: Julie

Julie is one of our many Seniors at Dancers Workshop. As a member of VISION's Senior Silver Team, Julie is an incredible example to dancers around her. We will miss Julie's sweet smile after this year is complete. But for now, you can see her around the studio several times a week in her technique classes and during her rehearsal time with Vision.

We have such dynamically differnet dancers - The Senior Spotlight is a great opportunity for us to showcase our seniors with all of their different plans and goals. If you have a little one, the possibilities are endless to how they use their experience as a dancer. We have Seniors that go on to be professional dancers, doctors, teachers, and so much more. The skills and discipline children learn in dance is transferable to any future!

Introducing Julie:

Julie now!

Your Name? Julie

Your highschool? Westwood High School

How many years have you been dancing at Dancers Workshop? 3

How many hours a week do you generally dance at Dancers Workshop? 7.5

Do you dance at school too? If so, how many hours? I used to dance at school (2-3 hours a week), but not this year.

What made you start dancing? I started dancing when I was 3 and danced until I was 10. I took dance for my PE at Westwood and loved it again. I signed up at Dancers Workshop the following year.

What made you stick with it this long? I love dancing, especially because it’s a fun activity I do with friends.

Favorite memory at Dancers Workshop? I don’t have one specific memory—it has all been great. Overall, I have loved the time I get to spend with my friends or the Vision parties.

What are you future plans? I am going to college, but haven’t decided which one yet.

Do you know what your longterm career goals are? If so, what? I want to be an editor for a magazine.

What will you miss most about Dancers Workshop? I will miss the people—both the staff and the dancers.

How has your dance helped you in your "real" life? It has helped my confidence by performing in front of an audience. I used to be really shy and I’m not anymore.

What is your greatest accomplishment thus far (dance or otherwise)? Making the Vision Senior Team and getting the position of Editor-in-Chief of the Westwood Yearbook.

In 10 years, do you see yourself still dancing? If so, recreationally, professionally, teaching, or otherwise? I hope to still be dancing recreationally.

Thanks for letting us "spotlight" you Julie! Congrats on your Senior Year!
